The exibition "Warsaw - Moscow, Moscow - Warsaw", the biggest event of the Polish season in Russia, is opening today (24th March) in the Tretiakovska Gallery in Moscow.
The Polish season is being organized by the Adam Mickiewicz Instiitute (IAM - Poland) and the State's Museum-Exhibition Center (ROSIZO - Russia). "The collaboration is working very well" said Grzegorz Wiśniewski, the vice-director of the IAM, at the press-conference. "The coolness in the diplomatic relations, which is discussed in the media, has luckily no influence on cultural relations". The season was inaugurated in Sankt-Petersburg with "Madame Buuterfly" by Puccini, directed by Mariusz Treliński, on 22nd March. Wednesday 23rd was the Varnishing Day of the exhibition "Me, Gombrowicz" in the Pushkin Museum in Moscow. Wiśniewski wants the Russians to discover Witold Gombrowicz (1904-1969), as they disocvered another Polish writer: Sławomir Mrożek (born in 1930) years ago. "I hope theatre will help in it.
