Theater is becoming a tool for breaking down barriers and stereotypes both domestically and abroad," says Grzegorz Artman. "Theater can bring cultures and societies together. Our project is a kind of social/cultural mission which uses theater plays." He and his colleages are taking their anti-war play to Lebanon.
The play itself is not the only aim of the "World without Borders" project, part of which is a trip to Lebanon. The Biuro Podróży Theater is also planning on holding workshops with Palestinian kids, and Lebanese actors, notes Grzegorz Artman. "We will also have a film overview about Polish alternative theater. This whole meeting is at the heart of the enterprise." Grzegorz Artman, the husband of Joanna Kasperek-Artman, a well known actress of the Żeromski Theater in Kielce plays the role of a soldiers in "Carmen Funebre;" a heartless oppressor who ends up falling victim to the war and becoming a cripple. The play itself came into being fifteen years ago; created by Paweł Szkotak, the artistic director of the Biuro Podróży theater.
