I write myself, so I really don't read novels because I don't want them to influence my texts. But I do passionately love newspapers and blogs. Earlier, I read everything I could get my hands on. It was with child like openness that I would read Scandinavian, German and French literature.

However, I got through high school without reading the required material because I wrote such good poems that my teacher didn't make me take tests. Of course, in retrospect the poems aren't that good. I made up what I was missing on my own. I even enjoyed reading Nałkowska and Żeromski. Recently, I've been more likely to read literature by young people. Naturally all of these youngsters write in a similar way, and deal with similar issues like relationships and your first apartment, but let's not pretend that such subjects don't exist. I like Dorota Masłowska the most. I'd like to put on a play based on her work because I feel the need to direct a play that I myself didn't write. If, however, I'm unable to put on any contemporary text, I'll probably do Shakespeare. I live in Wrocław, chich is a growing city that still retains its' German, ordery charakter.
