On Saturday, the 16th of April, the XXX Theatrical Confrontations in Opole began.
For the hosts, this is an important festival because its' anniversary comes at the same time as the birthday of the Kochanowski Theater, which is celebrating its' 30th year," said Bartosz Zaczykiewicz, the director of the Opole Theater. "I am thankful to Opole, its' citizens, the theater's director and its' actors for these 30 years," said Minister of Culture Waldemar Dąbrowski. "Thanks to all of you, Opole has become the stage of confrontation for some of the most well known achievements of classical theater. The importance of this festival will only grow, because the classics always helped us identify our sense of Polish-ness. Now that we are in the European Union, this service is all the more necessary." The Minister called the Confrontations the "second genius of theater," next to Jerzy Grotowski, who was awarded in the city.
