Anna Augustynowicz decided to try her hand at a comedy from the 1920s, written by the Soviet playwright, Nikolay R. Erdman. The main character, Siemion Podsiekalnikov, has been unemployed for a year. He is frustrated and he does not know what to do. He would like to be the head of a family or a respected citizen, but how can he live without a role in society? Finally, he decides to commit suicide. He is visited by a neighbour and by people whom he does not know. However, they will not save him. They need his death to solve their own problems. According to Wojciech Jachim, the creators of the performance have found a parallel between Polish reality and the Soviet one. People who do not follow socially accepted patterns and do not realize commonly approved goals become outsiders. They feel unnecessary and lose the sense of purpose in their lives.
