A Meeting of Fashion & Theater at the Wilanow Palace

The former director general of the National Opera in Warsaw, fired last Lear for daring to restore some joie de vivre at the opera, was recently the creative mind behind an interesting meeting of worlds: theater and fashion, during a promotional event for Deni Cler's latest line held last night at the Wilanow Palace in Warsaw.

What is interesting about this cooperation, from the point of view of high culture, is that it demonstrates that there is no real limit to culture's capacity for uplifting the human condition, and high culture need not be locked up in special places which distinguish it from low culture. Far from being tainted by a venture into the commercial world, Treliński's fashion show demonstrates that the commercial world can indeed be a forum for high mindedness, if there is a willingness to break with certain conventions. Deni Cler apparently had only one rule for Treliński to follow: he had to use their line of dresses. Beyond this, the director was free to organize the fashion show according to his own whims, and what guests witnessed was certainly not your typical runway event.
